Liria Batatina won the prize game for two return tickets to Vienna, part of the Experience Europe campaign organized by the EU in Kosovo to celebrate Europe Day 2024. Once Ambassador Tomáš Szunyog awarded her the two tickets on May 9, she organized her trip to Vienna at the end of June. We asked her to share with us the most interesting impressions from her first visit to Vienna. so that through her travel blog, we too can better plan our visit to Vienna in the future especially now that short-term visas to member states have been liberalised for Kosovo citizens since January.
“The visit to Vienna left an extraordinary impression on me for many reasons. Vienna is a cultural, historical and arts hub, offering a great mix of classical and modern architecture. Monuments such as St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Schönbrunn Palace, and Belvedere Palace, are just some of the highlights that show the historical wealth of the city,” Liria says when talking about her general impressions of Vienna. What made it even easier for her to explore every twist and turn around the city, is Vienna’s public transportation, which she says is extremely efficient and convenient. To Liria, Vienna offered a rich and diverse experience with its beauty, culture, and rich history.
“Visiting this wonderful city remains an unforgettable experience and a destination that should be on every traveler’s bucket list,” she says before describing one by one her impressions of visiting the most impressive sites in Vienna.
Schönbrunn Palace
First, we visited the Schönbrunn Palace and opted for the classical tour, and the duration of the visit was about five hours. This tour included a visit to a part of the royal palace, the orange garden, the maze garden, as well the Gloriette, which offered an incredible view of the palace and the city of Vienna from above.
The Palace
The palace left an incredible impression on us, with its amazing and fabulous interior, permeated in the spirit of the Baroque.
Art History Museum – Kunsthistorische Museum Wien
The art history museum preserves priceless art collections. This museum is one of the most important and richest in the world in terms of art collections. The atmosphere in the museum was calm and reflective, which allowed us to deeply enjoy the art.
While visiting this extremely rich museum, a short break in the beautiful hexagonal domed hall of the museum is something worth doing.
World Museum/Welt Museum
The Vienna World Museum is the largest anthropological museum in Austria, where the helmet and sword of Gjergj Kastriot Skanderbeg are kept.
Austrian Parliament
The main entrance is adorned with the statue of Pallas Athena, goddess of wisdom, symbolizing wise leadership and justice.
The Parliament also hosts exhibitions and special events about historical and contemporary topics, offering a broad perspective on the country’s political and social developments.
People’s Garden/Volksgarten
This public garden is one of the most beautiful in Vienna. The great variety of rose species, with different colors and shapes, makes a walk through the garden a very pleasant visual experience.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart monument and home
Visiting the Mozart statue in Vienna is an inspiring experience. It not only honors one of history’s greatest composers, but also provides a beautiful and serene space where visitors can feel his lasting influence on the world of music.
St. Stephen’s Cathedral – Stephansdom
A visit to St. Stephen’s Cathedral (Stephansdom) in Vienna leaves a deep impression due to its rich history, magnificent architecture and the sacred atmosphere it radiates. Located in the heart of the city, this cathedral is one of Vienna’s most recognizable symbols and an important cultural and religious landmark.
The cathedral building is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture, dating back to the 12th century.
