INTO THE CRACKS meets EUOK (EU Office in Kosovo) in Prishtina
26 October 2022, 6–8pm, Europe House Pristina
In INTO THE CRACKS, artists Carina Riedl and Dieter Kovačič walk from Vienna to Istanbul on foot, reading and discussing the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. They explore its actual capacities, powers and... cracks. They question the general discourse around the Declaration, its wording, its efficacy, and proficiency in passage of time. On the route of 2500km they encounter the issue in a variety of situations, contexts, constellations, and contingencies.
In Prishtina, INTO THE CRACKS will continue to investigate cracks related to the Human Rights, this time focusing on the current situation in Kosovo. We will continue to investigate cracks related to the Human Rights, this time focusing on the current situation in Kosovo.
Blendë Pira, Program Coordinator at the Youth Initiative for Human Rights (YIHR) Kosovo, will give an overview of the most pressing issues in Kosovo, then we will read the Universal Declaration of Human Rights again in four languages: Albanian, English German and Serbian. This will serve as a basis for a debate on how to handle, heal, mend, accept, avoid, and confront cracks that appear.
Blendë Pira is the Program Coordinator of the Human Rights and Rule of Law Program at the Youth Initiative for Human Rights (YIHR) Kosovo. YIHR is a regional network of NGOs in Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Kosovo. It is “fighting for peace in the region, not only for the absence of war, but for the peace as a lasting process, which means dealing with the past and which results in continuous co-operation between the states and people in the region.” https://yihr-ks.org/member/blende-pira/?lang=en
