The European Union Information and Cultural Centre in North Mitrovica organised a morning discussion with community activist Milica Andric from the local initiative LINK. The talk focused on community volunteering and why people should not miss these opportunities.
‘Volunteering in companies, NGOs and government institutions enables the acquisition of knowledge and experience which facilitates job finding’, stressed Andric. Considering that the local community is one of the first to look for volunteer opportunities, this discussion was focused on discovering local initiatives, groups, and organisations providing volunteering services.
Moreover, it pointed out the everyday challenges of engaging more youth in volunteering, such as the lack of motivation or interest, and why it is important to address them.
On 28 August, the European Union Information and Cultural Centre in Pristina organised a screening of the French movie ‘Hippocrates/Diary of a French Doctor’, in cooperation with the Alliance Française in Pristina and the French Embassy in Kosovo.
Hippocrates is a 2014 French drama directed by Thomas Lilti, which was screened as part of the International Critics’ Week at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. It also received seven nominations at the 40th César Awards, including Best Supporting Actor for the role played by Reda Kateb.
The audience also had the opportunity to take part in a cocktail reception that followed the screening.
