On 22 January, the European Union Information and Cultural Centre (EUICC) in Pristina welcomed two acclaimed directors for a night of movie screenings and artistic debate.
‘Forgive me’ by Besim Ugzmajli and ‘Voices from within’ from Lum Çitaku were screened in front of a full audience who were interested in the topic and actively took part in the discussion.
Both cinematic works, the first one a short film and the second one a documentary, tackled the Syrian War and its impact on society in Kosovo.
The directors were able to talk to the audience and present their vision. While Ugzmajli told the audience how he wanted to bring out the voice of women who were victims not only for the time their husbands left to fight in Syria, Çitaku stated that it took a lot of time for him to convince the women he interviewed for his documentary, since they shared their most inner feelings about the issue.
Çitaku currently works with film, new media, and anthropologically informed design as a creative director, researcher, editor and producer in Pristina. He holds a Master degree in Visual and Media Anthropology (Department of Political and Social Sciences) from the Free University of Berlin.
Ugzmajli is a director, producer and writer, born in Ferizaj. He has participated in many festivals with his films, some of which have also won awards.
