Strategy, focus, and a little friendly chess rivalry♟️
To help young chess players aged 15–16 from Mitrovica North, Zubin Potok, Zvečan/Zveçan, and Leposavić/Leposaviq sharpen focus, better strategise, and develop problem-solving skills, on International Chess Day the EU in Kosovo invites youngsters to the Youth Chess Challenge at Europe House Mitrovica North.
📅 30 July 2026
⏰ 11:00 - 16:00
📍 Europe House Mitrovica North
We'll open with an overview of Europe's rich chess heritage, from Magnus Carlsen to the legendary Judit Polgár, before the boards are set and the tournament begins. Beyond the competition, chess is a chance for youth to develop thinking that lasts well beyond the game.
Bringing young people from different communities to the same table is what cooperation and inclusion look like in practice, and it's exactly what the EU stands for.
